Family:  Triacanthodidae (Spikefishes), subfamily: Triacanthodinae
Max. size:  8.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 50 - 458 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Maldive Islands, Japan, East China Sea, Philippines, Indonesia, New Caledonia, and Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Reddish but paler below; 3 yellowish lines and 2 reddish-yellow lines on body (Ref. 6660).
