Family:  Monacanthidae (Filefishes)
Max. size:  32 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 73 - 200 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific and Southeast Atlantic: south to Algoa Bay, South Africa; also Japan and northwestern Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 36-38; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 35-36. Greyish brown to purplish brown in color; membrane of spinous dorsal lemon yellow in males, greyish in females; other fins with pale blue, rays brownish (Ref. 4421).
Biology:  Found on trawling grounds.
