Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Commonly occurs over open sand in shallow water but has also been caught at a depth of slightly more than 50 m (Ref. 54528). Feeds on insect larvae that are sifted from the sand (Ref. 5595).
