Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 2 - 40 m
Distribution:  Mediterranean Sea and Marmara Sea: Except Golfe du Lion.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-16; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-10; Vertebrae: 33-33
Biology:  Adults inhabit eel-grass beds (Ref. 4742). Feed on bryozoans, worms, small mollusks, and amphipods (Ref. 4742). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Males build dish shaped nests and guard the eggs (Ref. 205).
