Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Nam Theun of the Mekong basin in Laos.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Distinguished by having 10-17 sharply defined and regular, vertical, dark brown bars on the sides distinctly wider than interspaces; the top of the head vermiculated; a complete black bar at caudal fin base; in life, a bright red caudal fin, bright yellow dorsal, anal, pelvic and pectoral fins; a complete lateral line (Ref. 27732).
Biology:  Found in a variety of habitats, but usually associated with fast to very fast waters, on pebble to stone substrate (Ref. 27732).
