Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6.5 - 7.5; dH range: 12
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Kivu, Rusizi, Lake Tanganyika, Malagarasi, Lake Rukwa and associated river systems (Ref. 2801, 107916). In the Lukuga River (Lake Tanganyika outflow), known up to Niemba (Ref. 93587).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits Rivers and sandy bays in lakes (Ref. 4967).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 31 January 2006 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
