Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  14 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 7.5 - 9; dH range: 15; depth range - 10 m
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika except the north end.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Solitary adults inhabit rubble areas in shallow water, most often not exceeding 10 m depth and never exceeding 10 m. Feed on the biocover (Ref. 6770). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
