Family:  Poeciliidae (Poeciliids), subfamily: Poeciliinae
Max. size:  3.5 cm TL (male/unsexed); 4 cm (female)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Central America: Rio General in Costa Rica.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits currents of all velocities, with a preference for waters of moderate to strong current, between 20 and 940 m elevation. Recorded from brooks, streams and shorelines of moderate sized rivers. Found in small aggregations on rocky or sandy bottoms. Browses on ooze and detritus (Ref. 36880).
