Family:  Plesiopidae (Roundheads), subfamily: Plesiopinae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 8 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Red Sea, Comoros, Madagascar, and southern Oman.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Caudal fin rounded.
Biology:  Adults are found on rocky or rubble bottoms (Ref. 27772). Eggs are guarded by the male parent (Ref. 205).
