Environment:  demersal; freshwater; depth range 3 - 30 m
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs in Monkey Bay, Otter Point, Thumbi West and Domwe Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky habitats. Feeds from the sediment-free biocover on miniscule diatoms that use the algal strands as substrate. In deeper waters, this species feeds from the vertical faces of rocks (Ref. 5595).
