Paxton's cardinalfish

Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Paxtoninae
Max. size:  7.55 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 46 - 80 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: Western Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-6; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-19; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 15-16; Vertebrae: 24-24. Head and body without scales, with numerous papillary neuromasts. Eyes slightly recessed with thick, whitish cornea.
Biology:  Found on the continental shelf (Ref. 75154).
