Family:  Channichthyidae (Crocodile icefishes)
Max. size:  48.7 cm TL (male/unsexed); 52.5 cm TL (female); max.weight: 708.0 g; max.weight: 942.5 g
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 90 - 600 m
Distribution:  Southern Ocean: South Orkney Islands, Antarctic Peninsula and from the Weddell, Bellingshausen, Ross and Davis seas.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults feed on fishes and krill. Larval pelagic phase is long in late winter (Ref. 28943).
