Max. size:  25.2 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: widespread in Lake Malawi (Ref. 4991).
Diagnosis:  Description: large predator habitus (Ref. 55954). Coloration: suprapectoral spot antero-dorsally extended in some specimens, sometimes to the extent that it almost connects with the blotch on the nape (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Probably lives over sandy substrate. Caught in fairly deep water off sandy beaches. Piscivore, feeds on fish like Engraulicypris sardella (Ref. 5595).
