Nyassachromis breviceps (Regan, 1922)

Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  15.4 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; depth range - 16 m
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to the southern portion of Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Prefers sand but males need small stones for nest construction which is not common in the genus. Feeds on phytoplankton (Ref. 5595).
