Family:  Moridae (Morid cods)
Max. size:  24 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range - 1200 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific and Southwest Atlantic: off southern Patagonia along the Argentine slope to 40°S and the Chilean coast to about 46°S. Southwest Pacific: on the rises to the east and south of New Zealand and off New South Wales and Tasmania in Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 65-71; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 52-56; Vertebrae: 51-53. Eye large, its diameter equal or greater than postorbital length of the head. Chin barbel present. Color pale pinkish; dorsal fin dusky distally; a dark spot at the tip of the first dorsal fin (Ref. 1371). Usually unpaired fins margined with black (Ref. 27363).
Biology:  A benthic species found on the continental slope (Ref. 75154). Living from the inner shelf, in far southern South America, to depths beyond 1000 m.
