Environment:  benthopelagic; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan and the East China Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 11-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 26-31; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 23-23. Body whitish when fresh. Oblique rows of dark dots above lateral line. Length of longest gill raker usually 12 or less (mostly 10) in HL (Ref. 41299).
Biology:  Commercially cultured in Japan. Widespread in sandy and muddy places (Ref. 9137).
