Mylochromis formosus (Trewavas, 1935)

Max. size:  12.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Occurs throughout the lake.
Diagnosis:  Description: without typical predator habitus; bicuspid outer dentition; shallower chin than Mylochromis ensatus (Ref. 55954). Coloration: lachrymal stripe present (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Not always seen in sandy areas. Feeds predominantly on small fishes and invertebrates. Occurs singly, males are territorial (Ref. 5595).
