Family:  Pseudopimelodidae (Bumblebee catfishes, dwarf marbled catfishes)
Max. size:  4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Guyana; Sipaliwini River basin.
Diagnosis:
Biology:  In some places, this species is sympatric with M. poecilus. Occurs in the main bed of streams and appears not to be present in the lower part of rivers. Hides under rocks and decaying wood during the day, its disruptive color pattern helping to disguise it in the environment. Feeds on larvae and pupae of Chironomidae. The originality of its features and its small size make it interesting for the aquarists (Ref. 35381).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 17 November 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
