Family:  Pseudochromidae (Dottybacks), subfamily: Pseudochrominae
Max. size:  8.6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 18 - 40 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Vietnam (Ref. 081967), Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 28-31; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 16-18. Description: Characterized by having entirely dark brown to blackish color; anterior lateral-line scales 22-34; depth of body 28.1-33.0 % of SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Occurs inshore (Ref. 7300). Found in or near holes or among corals. Mimics the angelfish Centropyge nox (Ref. 9710). Also found in coral and rocky reefs on slopes and drop-offs, usually solitary (Ref 90102).
