Distribution:  Asia: Hokkaido, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 5-6. Body elongate, head rather depressed, tail compressed. Four pairs of barbels present; 3 on upper jaw and another on anterior nostril. No spine below eye. Scales rather large. No lateral line. A black longitudinal band on body of male.
