Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  12.3 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 66 - 90 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: southern Red Sea, Arabian Sea and off Natal, South Africa. Reported as introduced to the Mediterraneann (Ref. 94612). First record from India (Ref. 113566).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Large dark ocellus on 1st dorsal fin (Ref. 4329).
Biology:  Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 57178. Maximum depth reported taken from Ref. 127989.
