Max. size:  7.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Laguna dos Patos system in Brazil from southernmost tributaries of the laguna Mirim and canal São Gonçalo drainage to the tributaries of the northern rio Jacuí basin. Absent in the headwaters of the rio Jacuí basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in slow to median flowing watercourses, with clear to brown waters running over a sandy bottom and occurs in marginal or submerged aquatic vegetation (Ref. 86691).
