Haplochromis riponianus (Boulenger, 1911)

Max. size:  10.4 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria and possibly the Victoria Nile.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in exposed and sheltered littoral areas with a sand or rock substrate (Ref. 4983). Is mainly insectivorous. Trichoptera and Ephemeroptera larvae were in the stomachs of the fish which were examined. Bivalves and gastropods were also found in the samples (Ref. 558).
