Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Nile (Bahr-el-Jebel at Gondokoro) and Lake Albert.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occupies the hyacinth fringe in Sudd lakes and moves into submerged vegetation during the flood. Omnivorous, consumes algae, vegetable fragments, zooplankton, Caridina and insects. Males are twice as numerous as females (Ref. 28714).
