Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Gymnoscopelinae
Max. size:  11.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 200 - 500 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Circumglobal between Subtropical Convergence and Antarctic Polar Front. Also recorded from 54°07'S, 30°59'W.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-20; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 18-20
Biology:  Oceanic and mesopelagic (Ref. 4066). Found below 210 m at night.

Threat to humans:  harmless
