Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 374 - 480 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: Caribbean Sea to Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Width 19.6 cm (Ref. 13608). Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Eggs have horn-like projections on the shell (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 01 July 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
