Family:  Pentanchidae (Deepwater catsharks)
Max. size:  38 cm TL (male/unsexed); 45 cm TL (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 60 - 90 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 0-0. Dorsal and sometimes upper and lower caudal-fin lobes with prominent black tips (Ref. 11146).
Biology:  A little-known bottom-dwelling shark found on the continental shelves (Ref. 11146). Possibly at depths greater than 90 m (Ref. 244).

Threat to humans:  harmless
