Family:  Fundulidae (Topminnows and killifishes)
Max. size:  8 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: Dan (Roanoke), Neuse, Cape Fear, Peedee and Catawba (Santee) River drainages in Virginia and North Carolina, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs usually over sand or mud in backwaters and pools of creeks and small to medium rivers. 9.6 cm max TL (Ref. 5723). Not a seasonal killifish (Ref. 27139).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 02 February 2012 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
