Family:  Fundulidae (Topminnows and killifishes)
Max. size:  6 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: occurs only in the USA from the southern Great Lakes to eastern Texas and southern Alabama.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in vegetated standing water bodies and quiet pools and backwaters of streams (Ref. 5723, 10294). Maximum length 7.8 cm TL (Ref. 5723). Feeds on terrestrial insects, snails, small crustaceans, and some algae (Ref. 10294). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
