Max. size:  8.9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Tennessee River drainage and Bayou du Chien (Mississippi River tributary), USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabit rocky and sandy pools of headwaters and creeks (Ref. 5723); also found in streams (Ref. 10294). Eggs are found clustered on underside of stone and guarded by males (Ref. 7043).
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 21 December 2011 Ref. (130435)
