Family:  Percidae (Perches), subfamily: Etheostomatinae
Max. size:  7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: lower Cumberland and lower Tennessee River drainages in Kentucky and Tennessee, USA. Upstream in Cumberland River drainage to Harpeth River; upstream in Tennessee River drainage (on east side of Tennessee River only) to upper Duck River, upper Buffalo River and Indian Creek (Tennessee).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits rocky pools and adjacent riffles of headwaters, creeks and small rivers (Ref. 5723); also found in streams (Ref. 10294).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 12 December 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
