Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Orinoco River basin and Tuy River of the Caribbean coast of Venezuela.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 2-3; Anal soft rays: 49-61; Vertebrae: 49-51
Biology:  Found in a variety of habitats where there is poor visibility and the water is still or slow-flowing. Feeds on filamentous algae and other plant material during the dry season (Ref. 6868).
