Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Somalia to Natal, South Africa, including Seychelles.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 108-110; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 86-87; Vertebrae: 52-53. Upper side brown with irregular dark bars and blotches; no lateral line on blind side (Ref. 4418).
Biology:  Inhabits shallow waters (Ref. 30573). Feeds on benthic invertebrates (Ref. 5213).
