Family:  Gonostomatidae (Bristlemouths)
Max. size:  3.6 cm SL (male/unsexed); 5 cm SL (female)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 300 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: scattered records from the northern record of 60°N, 20°W (Ref. 4769) to Angola (Ref. 4463).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A pseudoceanic, deep mesopelagic to bathypelagic species (Ref. 4769). Does not exhibit vertical migrations (Ref. 4463).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 14 May 2013 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
