Family:  Salmonidae (Salmonids), subfamily: Coregoninae
Max. size:  60 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Estonia and Russia in Lakes Peipus, Teploe [Lammijarv] and Pskov. Enters Lake Witzerv [Võrtsjärv] through a connecting river for spawning. Introduced in Lake Burtneck (Latvia), drifted to Gulf of Riga; introduced in many lakes of northern Russia, Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, in lakes in the Urals Region of Russia, Lakes Sevan (Armenia) and Balkash (Kasakhstan), but established only in a few (Ref. 59043); and Belarus (Ref. 59042). Considered vulnerable (Ref. 59043).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits lakes and rivers. Spawns mainly in southern coastal part of Lake Peipus and northern part of Lake Teploe, but also enters some rivers to spawn (Ref. 59043).
