Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 39 - 108 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: restricted to the Arafura and Timor seas off Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 11-11. Upper preopercular spine long, nearly reaching to near margin of opercle. Preorbital spine slight, often lacking. Infraorbital ridge usually smooth over anterior 1/4 of eye. Suborbital ridge bearing 3-4 spines behind eye. Interopercular flap absent. Iris lappet simple.
Biology:  Inhabits the continental shelf off western and northern Australia (Ref. 9790). Benthic (Ref. 75154).
