Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: middle and upper reaches of the Cess, Sanguin (Liberia) and Cavally rivers (Côte d'Ivoire)(Ref. 57126).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6; Anal spines: -0. Diagnosis: first or second branched ray of dorsal fin longest but always shorter than head (comprised from 3.5 to 4.5 times in standard length), never filamentous; base of adipose fin shorter than, or equal to, dorsal fin base; 9-13 (often 10-11) gill rakers on lower limb of first gill arch; pectoral fins with 8 (sometimes 9) branched rays; like most other species of the genus, C. teugelsi shows a sexual dimorphism between mature males and immature specimens (Ref. 57126). Description: nasal barbels present; very short first dorsal spine; well developed second spine, weakly denticulate along posterior margin; pelvic fin with 1 unbranched and 5 branched soft rays; anal fin with 6-8 branched soft rays (Ref. 57126). Coloration: live specimens dark with silvery reflections; belly and underside of head lighter (Ref. 57126). Preserved specimens: usually dark brown on back and whitish on belly (Ref. 57126).
