Family:  Syngnathidae (Pipefishes and seahorses), subfamily: Syngnathinae
Max. size:  6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 27 - 37 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Revillagigedo Islands to the Galapagos Islands, including the offshore islands of Costa Rica and Panama.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Males may be mature at 4.5 cm SL. Planktivore (Ref. 28023). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
