Family:  Bothidae (Lefteye flounders)
Max. size:  25 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 90 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: New York, USA and northeastern Gulf of Mexico to Brazil. There are no records from any Antillean location (Ref. 51183).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 78-90; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 59-68
Biology:  Occurs in bays, lagoons, and shallow coastal waters. Found on soft bottoms of continental shelf to a depth of about 90 m, more common between 10-50 m (Ref. 5217). Feeds on crustaceans, polychaetes and mollusks (Ref. 36453).
