Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 400 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic to western Indian Ocean.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-13; Anal soft rays: 13-13; Vertebrae: 42-42. Branchiostegal rays 4. Greatest body depth 18-23% SL. Pyloric caeca 8-10 (Ref. 41239). Roundish swim bladder. Radial pattern absent on operculum. Gill rakers on the inner surface of epibranchial absent on the first gill arch. Pectorals extending far beyond the origin of the dorsal fin. Base of dorsal fin longer than anal fin base (Ref. 33679).
