Family:  Pentanchidae (Deepwater catsharks)
Max. size:  90 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 10 - 180 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Australia.
Diagnosis:  Body long, rounded, head flattened with pointed snout, gill slits lateral, no ridge over eyes.
Biology:  Occurs on the continental shelf, from close inshore to offshore. Oviparous (Ref. 6871).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 13 May 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
