Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon River at Japurá, Orinoco, Maroni, Negro, Trombetas, Tapajós and Canumã River basins.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Frequently occurs in swift flowing waters, over a sandy bottom (Ref. 12225). Oviparous (Ref. 205).
