Max. size:  91 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 600 - 2610 m
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: off the mouth of Río de la Plata, Argentina (Ref. 26282, Ref. 114953) and Uruguay (Ref. 58839, Ref. 114953). Possibly Southeast Pacific: Chile (Ref. 27540, Ref. 114953).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on continental slope and upper abyssal plain. Feeds on small benthic invertebrates, adults possibly piscivorous (Ref. 114953). Oviparous (Ref. 50449). Males reaches maturity by ca. 76 cm TL; young hatch at ca. 22 cm TL (Ref. 114953). Produces horny-shelled eggs (Ref. 205).
