Family:  Batrachoididae (Toadfishes), subfamily: Halophryninae
Max. size:  11 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Singapore, Thailand, Burma [=Myanmar] and Sumatra (Indonesia). Also Malaysia (Ref. 90102).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-20; Anal soft rays: 16-17; Vertebrae: 27-29. Description: Characterized by an elongate laterally compressed body; pale brown color; with around four irregular dark brown bars; body and fins with spots and mottling; body depth 3.7-4.7 in SL; eyes not raised above head profile; snout length is more than eye diameter; three spines on operculum; two spines on suboperculum; gill opening from upper three-fourths to four-fifths of base of pectoral fin; jaws, vomer and palatines with blunt and rounded teeth; anterior orbital tentacle with four or more rounded tips (Ref. 90102).
