Family:  Etmopteridae (Lantern sharks)
Max. size:  60 cm TL (male/unsexed); 60 cm TL (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 110 - 560 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: Peru to central Chile.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on the continental shelf and upper slope. Feeding habits unknown but probably subsists on small fishes and invertebrates. Ovoviviparous, number of young at least three. Size at birth probably about 13 or 14 cm (size of full-term fetuses).
