Remarks The species is sympatric with S. fuscescens over part of its range. Enteromorpha sp., Enhalus sp., Gracilaria sp., and Eucheuma spp. are dominant food items (Ref. 1828). Inhabits shallow coastal waters. Shoaling species. Herbivorous grazer. Feeds on algae and incidental invertebrates when the species browses on seaweeds and seagrasses (Ref. 9773).
