Africa: upper Zambezi River, Zambia and Okavango drainage in Botswana and Namibia (Ref. 27496). Also reported from the Zambezi and Okavango in Angola (Ref. 120641).

Predatory species, most active during twilight and at night (Ref. 52307). Feeds primarily on nocturnal mormyrid and schilbeid fishes (Ref. 27496). Breeding takes place at the beginning of summer (Ref. 52307).
