Comments: Found throughout most of extreme northern USA; south to Delaware River in New York, Lake Chigan in Illinois, and Platte River system in Wyoming. Relict populations in the upper Missouri River drainage in South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming, and Twin Spings Creek (Mississippi River tributary) in Iowa (Ref. 86798).
