Comments: Reported from Lake Nyasa [=Lake Malawi] (Ref. 2, 4967), however it has never been positively recorded north of Nkhotakota in Malawi (Ref. 118638). Reports from Lake Chungruru (Ref. 2, 4967, 54852) and Lake Kingiri (Ref. 2, 54852) are believed to have been the result of misidentification of emaciated spent individuals of Oreochromis chungruruensis and juvenile Oreochromis squamipinnis respectively (Ref. 118638). There is no evidence that this species was ever native in Tanzania (Ref. 118638).
