पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 40 - 45; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 2-4; गुदा कांटा 2; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 28 - 31. Juveniles whitish with dark longitudinal stripes which become faint in adults; adults with light-edged dark ocellus on shoulder (Ref. 5496).

Found in tide pools and subtidal areas.
